Did you know that you can cut down your car maintenance fees simply by doing a weekly 10-20 minute checkup on your car? In this article, I will provide you the information concerning how to maintain your car correctly and saving money which otherwise would be spent on expensive repairs
-My first suggestion to you is that you must read and understand your car owner handbook. After that follow my advice and start to inspect your car on a weekly basis (take 10-20 minutes only).

-Take one to two minutes to turn on and off your lights and signals to ensure they are working fine.

-Check the air pressure of the car tires with a gauge and take a look of the surface to ensure they are in good conditions without cracks or cuts. Every tire has a psi pressure on it and it will be printed in your car manual. The pressure of the tire is very important for the control of the vehicle.

-Examine your belts and hoses to ensure no cracks, tears or leaks and make replacement when needed.

-Stop the car engine and check the engine oil level by pulling out the stick and wipe it off then replace the stick in the engine and then pull it out again and check the level. Add suitable oil if necessary and make sure you change the engine oil and to filter for every 3,000 miles.

-Look under your car to ensure all pipes are in good conditions and no leaking. The most common failure of the vehicles is fluid leaks. The vehicle needs all its fluids and when it leaks the leaking part can cause failure at great expense.

-Check the car battery. Pull each cover off and check to ensure there is enough water in every cell. If not enough water, fill it up with distilled water. Also check the connections if they are corroded you will have to remove them and to clean them with a metal brush

-Check the brakes. The brake master cylinder is normally mounted on the fire wall just in front of the driver. It has a flat cap on it and it just pops off. Take care of your brake fluid and you must add fluid to ensure it’s always kept full you needs to check for a leak in the brake system. This is very critical as a brake failure can get you killed.

- Check the power steering. The power steering unit usually has a screw on cap that has a short stick gauge attached to it and normally located in front of the engine. It is a closed system and can not be over filled as failure of the power steering will cause the vehicle lost control and hard to steer.

-If your vehicle has a transmission stick, check it out by pulling it out and wipe it off then replace it in the transmission and then pull it out and check the level and condition. The fluid should be red in color and full on the stick. For about every 30,000 miles you have to change the transmission filter and fluid unless you live in a very hot or very cold climate. If you live in an insensitive climate you should change your filter and fluid at least once a year.

Note that you should pay attention to maintain your hands and all the foreign objects left the ventilator and belts while the engine turns. If you are doing this for the first time, it is best to get help from the professional car technician.
Inspecting your car on weekly basis with the above tips and advice you should be able to save a lot of money and have a longer-lasting car!
